Bacon was born in Dublin on October 28th, 1909. He was one of five children born to Edward and Christine. His father had been in the army but after Bacon was born, was a horse - trainer. In 1914 the family moved to London and from then on began to move back and forth between England and Ireland.
Bacon suffered from asthma as a child and consequently never had coherent schooling. Due to this Bacon gained a quite independant attitude and awareness, and spent much of his time with his grandmother.
Eccentricity seemed to run through Bacon's family and as a result of this Bacon found it hard to live up to his father's puritanical rules. Bacon was sent away from home by his father in 1926. . . for trying on his mother's underwear!Bacon's Life
